The film will show a “different side” of the actor.
Lionsgate’s film adaptation of the game Borderlands has found its protagonist. Kevin Hart will star in the film as Roland, alongside Cate Blanchett.
In the games, Roland is a former member of Crimson Lance and a veteran fighter. Film director Eli Roth spoke about the lineup:
“I am very happy to work with Kevin. Borderlands is a different kind of movie for him and we’re thrilled to excite audiences with a side of Kevin they’ve never seen before. He’s going to be an incredible Roland.
Launched in 2009, Borderlands captured a legion of fans by presenting a first-person shooter, developed by Gearbox Software. The game mixes sci-fi elements when telling the story of Pandora, a planet abandoned by a big company before the events of the game. Borderlands 3, released late last year, has been praised for presenting an exciting story for the franchise.
Eli Roth will be the adaptation director, with names like Avi and Ari Arad in production, along with Erik Feig. The most recent version of the screenplay was written by Chernobyl Emmy winner Craig Mazin.
