Colin Farrell has been spotted out in the wild purchasing a Batman comic book, most likely as research for his role in the upcoming Matt Reeves movie.
The actor who will play Oswald Cobblepot, aka Penguin, was seen with the Batman TPB by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato:
There it is, the book that Colin purchased yesterday.

It’s unknown if the story directly relates to the Matt Reeves movie, but the book is described as:
When his newest business associate is murdered on the doorstep of Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne finds himself at the center of the GCPD’s investigation.
But a personal stake has Detective Harvey Bullock coming hard after the man he believes to be behind a dangerous drug ring. The Dark Knight and Detective Bullock strike up an uneasy alliance as they set out to uncover a citywide conspiracy involving corrupt politicians, rival gangs, a deadly designer drug and a new criminal calling himself Anarky with plans to remake Gotham City through a violent revolution.
Batman by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato Deluxe Edition collects the duo’s complete Batman run, including Detective Comics #30-34 & #37-44 and the Detective Comics Sneak Peek!
A couple of months ago also saw the actor reveal that his character is not the main villain of the movie.
I can also recall Henry Cavill reading various Superman comics, none of which were directly adapted by Zack Snyder and David Goyer, but they were used as inspirations for Man of Steel, so more than likely Colin Farrell is reading up on his Batman for the same reasons.
DC insiders filled me in last Summer while I was at the San Diego Comic-Con that Matt Reeves will be in part adapting “The Long Halloween” story by Jeph Loeb, who interestingly enough, was Matt Reeves’ screenwriting teacher at USC.
Reeves has also gone on record stating some of his favorite Batman stories include: “Year One, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Ego… Many others… Neal Adams is awesome… Love the original Kane and Finger…”
The Batman gets released Oct. 1, 2021 and also stars Robert Pattinson as the titular character and Bruce Wayne, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis as Alfred.
